Plain version: we earn a commission if you buy through our links, and it costs you nothing extra.

The short answer
Mist & Meter is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. You pay exactly the same price whether you use our link or not.
How the links work
When you click a buy button on this site, you go to /go/<product> on our own domain, which immediately redirects you to the retailer with our affiliate tag attached. If you then buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale.
We use that intermediate step for two reasons: it means we can see which recommendations people actually act on, and it means a product’s destination is a single configuration entry we can update without rewriting the page around it.
Every affiliate link on this site carries rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" and opens in a new tab, which is what Google’s link-spam policy asks for and which tells you at a technical level exactly what kind of link it is.
Which retailers
Currently, Amazon only. We are not enrolled in any other affiliate network, and we do not build tracking links for programs we have not joined - which means every buy button here goes to Amazon and is tagged as ours.
If we join another program in future, this page will say so before any link to it appears.
What the commission does not affect
- The order of our picks. The commission rate across the products we compare is effectively identical, so there is no commercial reason to prefer one over another. Rankings come from the methodology at how we rank.
- The price you pay. Affiliate commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket. The price is the same either way.
- What we say about a product. Every product we recommend carries a “who should skip this” section, and we write it about products we earn on.
- Whether we tell you to buy at all. Every commercial page on this site has a “when to buy nothing at all” section. Our highest-effort page argues that an air purifier will not fix a mold problem - against the single largest search term in this category. Pages like how to lower humidity carry no product links whatsoever, on purpose.
Where you will see this disclosed
- A visible line above the first affiliate link on every commercial page, not only in the footer
- An
#admarker and a link back to this page beneath every buy button, including the ones that say “Check price” because we have no live price - The Amazon Associates statement in the footer of every page
- This page
About the prices you see
Prices are pulled from live retailer data and carry the date they were checked. If our data is more than 48 hours old, the price is hidden entirely and the button reads “Check price on Amazon” instead. We never show a remembered number, and we never write a price into the text of a page.
Retailer prices change constantly and we do not control them. Always check the current price on the retailer’s own page before buying.
What we do not accept
- Sponsored placements or paid inclusion in any ranking
- Free products, review units or loaned equipment
- Payment to remove or soften criticism
- Advance review of our content by any manufacturer
We also do not run display advertising. Affiliate commission is the only way this site makes money.
